Location of the Password Database file
Kaspersky Password Manager’s Password Database is an encrypted file that stores all your personal data (accounts, user names, passwords, and Identities).
The default paths for different versions of Microsoft Windows are as follows:
- Microsoft Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\My Documents\Passwords Database\;
- Microsoft Windows Vista: C:\Users\User_name\Documents\Passwords Database\;
- Microsoft Windows 7: C:\Users\User_name\My Documents\Passwords Database\.
You can use different media to store your Password Database: removable disk, local disk, or network drive.
The following actions are possible when changing the path or names of the Password Database:
- – creates a copy of the Password Database with the specified path. This copy will become an active Password Database.
- – the active Password Database will be saved with the specified path.
- Create new Password Database– creates an empty copy of the Password Database that will become active.
To move or rename the Password Database, please do the following:
- Open the main application window.
- In the bottom part of the window, click the Kaspersky Password Manager button.
- In the window that opens, click the Settings button.
- In the left part of the window, select the My passwords section.
- In the right part of the window under Location, click located in the right part of the Path field.
- In the window, specify the name and path of the file and click the button.
- In the window that opens, select the necessary action to be performed on the Password Database.
- In the window that will open, enter the Master Password to confirm the changes.
To change the current Password Database, please do the following:
- Open the main application window.
- In the bottom part of the window, click the Kaspersky Password Manager button.
- In the window that opens, click the Settings button.
- In the left part of the window, select the My passwords section.
- In the right part of the window under Location, click located in the right part of the Path field.
- In the window, select the Password Database file and click the button.
- In the window that opens, enter the Master Password to access the chosen Password Database.
